LED Downlights offer an energy-efficient, modern alternative to traditional downlights with compact fluorescent (PL-C) bulbs. Designed for commercial applications such as offices, retail areas, hotels, and meeting rooms, LED downlights provide powerful, glare-reduced light in a clean, integrated fixture.
One of the key benefits of switching to LED is energy efficiency. Compared to traditional PL-C downlights, LED downlights consume up to 60% less energy while delivering the same – or even better – brightness. Integrated LED downlights also last significantly longer, often 30,000 to 50,000 hours, reducing replacement frequency and maintenance costs.
What additional options can I choose when buying downlights?
Besides the desired shape (round, square, etc.), you can also choose fixtures which are dimmable.
How do I install an LED downlight in the desired location?
After making the cut in the ceiling, you can connect an LED downlight to the mains (230V) and then fix it in the ceiling. This is often done by using two sturdy stainless-steel clamps.
Why are LED downlights more efficient than conventional fixtures?
This is down to the power, or wattage. As a result, the downlight needs less energy to generate light, which means that in most cases, you will save more than 70% in energy costs thanks to the LED technology.
Can I also get LED downlights that can be used outside?
LED downlights with an IP44 value or higher (= splash-proof) can be installed outdoors. If you want a fixture that is completely resistant to dust and water/rain, then we recommend choosing a product with an IP65 value.
What are the advantages of a dimmable LED downlight?
You can save even more on energy costs, because the fixture does not need to turn on at its brightest. And by choosing LED downlights with the colour warm white, you can create a better ambiance by dimming the lighting.

Every bulb or fixture has an energy efficiency class A to G. Energy label A is the most efficient and G the least. LED lighting is the most sustainable lighting technique. Even if a LED bulb is rated E or lower, they still save 70% of energy compared to conventional lighting with the same energy label. Why is it the same label then? To motivate LED brands to get even more durable.
